Claremont seniors Return to Grassroots

Friday, August 10, 2018 - 10:52 AM

On Wednesday 1st of August, the Claremont Football Club conducted club visits at their surrounding 12 Junior Clubs . Despite the weather, the sessions went on and were a great success! The below parent feedback gives a great insight into the Marist JFC visit:

We had the Year 4 Marist Black and Marist Sky Blues training on Wednesday 1st of August. The players from Claremont were fantastic, they engaged with the kids extremely well, assisted in some of our drills with ball handling in hand-ball and kicking, ran some of their own drills, which the kids loved and then we had a small scratch match with the two teams and they helped in each of the zones giving tips to the players, we then had a break and they each Claremont player gave briefs to the kids about some of the areas they should focus on; correct tackling technique, focusing on the ball from ground pick-ups and getting back to positions after stoppages.  They finished with a final brief on the game with all players listening intently to what they each had to say – great tip being to appreciate their Mums and Dads taking them to the games and training!

Given the poor weather conditions; it was great to see both teams had full list of numbers and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, all kudos to these excellent representatives of the Claremont FC; they were really very good with the kids and our appreciation to them for their time and interest in our players development.

I hope the district does this more frequently through the season as I think it is a great initiative for the players – thank you to Declan for organising this; I think Cooper  - one of the players had played for Marist, which the kids loved to hear.

On behalf of the Claremont Football District, I would like to thank those Claremont FC players who represented their club on the day. The feedback has only been positive and you should be proud of your efforts.  Declan Cormack.
