Wiluna Martu team visit Perth.

Wednesday, May 29, 2019 - 2:15 PM

The Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football Club is proud to be in collaboration with charity organisation Mulpirrmarra Connection (www.mulpirrmarra.com.au )  to host a group of Wiluna children for a weekend of cultural activities and football on the June long weekend.

Over the last 12 years, the Dalkeith Nedlands JFC has held an annual game of football against the Wiluna Martu Eagles. Wiluna is a remote (mostly aboriginal) community about 1300km north west of Perth in the middle of our vast state. Each year on the June long weekend a game and associated weekend of cultural activities is organised for the DNJFC players and Wiluna children to participate in, with the match alternating  each year between Perth and Wiluna.

The Wiluna Martu team is comprised of aboriginal boys and girls from Wiluna  varying in age from 7-15 years old. This community is so remote, there is little structured football training and the team gets about three chances a year to play.  For this event they are handed out jumpers, that some of them opt not to wear and get on the field to take part.  Last year in Wiluna, the whole town turned up to watch the game.

The Dalkeith Nedlands JFC would love you to assist us in any way possible to make this weekend a success!
