Next Gen Academy Travels to the Kimberley.

Earlier this month, the Claremont Development Officer- Declan Cormack, travelled to the Kimberley region with the Fremantle Football Club’s Next Generation Academy (NGA).

Over 5 days, Declan and the FFC NGA staff travelled to Kununurra, Halls Creek, Fitzroy, Derby and Broome. At each of these destinations, Declan and the FFC staff members conducted football clinic, education sessions and even umpired games at the Derby Primary School Dockers Shield.

The Sunday Times WA Football Volunteer of the Year – NOMINATE NOW

THE West Australian Football Commission presents The Sunday Times Volunteer of the Year Award annually to one of 17 regional and district finalists at the WAFL's Sandover Medal count.

WA was the first State to recognise its volunteers on such a large scale. The award’s success has prompted the AFL to run the program nationwide.

2018 Junior Parade Day

What a celebration of junior football, both on and off the field at Claremont Oval last weekend. The annual Junior Parade Day was a wonderful gathering of hundreds of participants from junior clubs all across the Claremont District.

Aside from taking part in the parade prior to the afternoon WAFL match, there was kicking and handball target competitions and the ever popular big mark bouncy castle, to keep the fun rolling along.

Girls' Comps Take Centre Stage

2018 Parent Umpire Program

Summary:

  • The Parent Umpire Program will be run in Year 3 age groups in the Claremont, Subiaco and West Perth Districts and in Year 4 age groups in the West Perth District.
  • All clubs wishing to nominate teams in the Year 3 (and Year 4 age groups – WP only) are required to participate in the program.
  • Four training courses will be conducted in the lead up to season 2018
  • Parent Umpires must be over the age of 18 years

2017 District Awards of Excellence

The 2017 Northern Conference District  Awards of Excellence was held on Friday 22nd September at the Rendezvous Hotel - Scarborough in a night that bought the Tigers, Lions & Falcons Districts together to celebrate football achievements both on and off the field.

The atmosphere in the room at Rendezvous Hotel Scarborough was electric with local junior and senior clubs. Providing their volunteers opportunity to celebrate the season that was, with football friends and colleagues.

Benefits of footy go beyond physical health

Indigenous adults who play football are healthier, happier and better connected, a new Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre report on Indigenous participation in AFL, released today, shows.

The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre’s (BCEC’s) latest report, After the Siren: The community benefits of Indigenous participation in Australian Rules Football, examines the physical health, mental wellbeing and community connectedness benefits that flow from playing football.

BCEC Principal Research Fellow and report author Associate Professor Mike Dockery said the report reveals the benefits of playing AFL extend beyond physical health benefits, highlighting the positive mental health and community level outcomes.

2017 Northern Conference Fairest and Best Results

The 2017 Northern Conference Fairest and Best Vote Count was held on Monday 11th September at Seacrest Park. 

More than 300 people attended over the duration of the evening which celebrated football excellence in the Year 8 - Year 12 Northern Conference Competitions.
